The New and Powerful Nvidia GPU to Be Supported By Asus

Nvidia
On Thursday, Nvidia launched the latest of its GTX 900s series of mobile GPUs, GTX 960m and GTX 950m. These have been designed to evolve and make the gaming laptop as futuristic as well as future-proof as possible. Asus had recently unveiled GX501 which is one of the machines that has incorporated the latest Nvidia tech already. According to the reports the new GPUs comprises of gaming-enhancing features as Shadow-Play, Battery-Boost, and Optimus.

Shadow-Play can track the achievements and capture the videos, Battery-Boost will prolong the play time by managing battery consumption and the Optimus will optimize laptops for battery life and performance. Although Asus is not ready to reveal more about the specifications of GX501, they have hinted that the GTX 960m card will be bounded with worthy hardware. Reports suggest that the GX501 will have the option of a resolution of 3840 x 2160 or even standard HD apart from option of a 4K display. Asus has improvised the cooling system of their gaming laptops for stealthier performance.

Nvidia's Win:

Before freezing on its plans for the GX501, Asus was reported to be keeping a watchful eye on the processor competition in the market. Even though long-awaited Broadwell chips have been announced by Intel, but still they are in the initial phase and haven’t been able to reach to their maximum potential as if now. The market also saw AMD which basically struggled to compete with both Intel and Nvidia in the GPU wars. According to senior gaming analyst at Jon Peddie Research, Ted Pollack, this doesn’t mean that AMD is giving up and the game is still not over. AMD does have compelling option for some of the consumers.

Prospect of Gaming Laptops:

According to Mike Schramm, manager of qualitative insights at EEDAR, even though there has been constant rise in the mobile gaming machines, smartphones, tablets, laptops in general are still flourishing. He further added that there is not crossing between the worlds of mobile gaming and laptop gaming. Most of the gamers rely on laptops for playing desktop-style PC games. He further pointed out the today gamers are ready to pay more for high-end laptops to play AAA titles, which are the big budget games and give a totally new experience from mobile gaming. Players might chose tablets for enjoying Monument Valley but go for laptop to play League of Legends.

According to Tim Coulling, senior analyst at Canalys, the market is open for both for PCs and laptops as this is mainly due to gaming and productivity. Hardware manufacturers are leaning towards gaming due to the changing environment. The current market is showing a decline in the sales price making it difficult for the vendors like Asus to make money in the desktop and notebook market. Coulling adds that even though at the lower end prices might be dropping but still PCs will continue to have their own place in every home, especially due to the keyboard and mouse.

Lollipop in Nvidia's Shield Tablet

Shield Tablet
The much awaited Lollipop

Finally, it is here! The latest version of the Android series as Lollipop. And with its release, all the leading companies are getting their sleeves rolled to get this version for their respective mobile phones and tablets as well. Likewise, Nvidia has also declared that their Shield tablet will also be soon updated to this latest Lollipop version.

Nvidia's official declaration

The declare was officially made public is one of the Twitter feeds. The officials in this feed had promised of bringing “Android 5.0 Lollipop and more.” Nevertheless, the official declaration of the upgradation is indeed a good one, thus showing that Nvidia does not at all want to lag behind. Yet the release time-frame hasn't been said. As expected by many speculations, this upgrade will be done about the end of this year.

The official declare says “Android 5.0 Lollipop and more.” The OS upgradation definitely gets included. However “and more” still makes other stay in vague expectations. Many people have been expecting that this “and more” can mean the inclusion of a software with a gaming centric form.

Other includes exciting features

Apart from this upgrade, the tablet also includes many other exciting features as well. The Nvidia tablet includes a 32-bit chip set of Nvidia Tegra K1. It also includes a massive 2 GB RAM. The latest Nexus 9 includes the Denver version of 64 bit. However, this 32-bit form is actually faster than many other chips that you can find presently in the market. The tablet also includes an impressive 8-inch display. In addition, it allows the device to run a resolution that comes in HD form with a range of pixels that include a combination of 1920 by 1080. Apart from these, the tablet also includes a 16GB or even a 32GB expandable storage space.

This tablet is available at two kinds of prices. The tablet coming in the Wi Fi only mode with a 16GB, is priced at a $299. On the other hand, the tablet, which has a 32GB mode with an LTE, is priced at $399. These features along with many more simply make the availability of this tablet a much awaited and an exciting one.

Lollipop suffices a lot

If these features are not enough to compel you to grab one of these tablets, the added Android Lollipop version will be enough to get one for yourself. Android Lollipop itself includes a whole lot of exciting features like improvised lock screen, notifications and many more. Both the release of Lollipop and the Nvidia tablet are all set to fulfil the expectations of the passionate Android lovers from all over the world.

Nvidia, undoubtedly does a good job in declaring the official release of their upgraded OS. Of course other issues like the speed and quality depends on its future use. Whether it will be better than Nexus or will it be faster than HTC is all really vague. But that doesn't make the enthusiastic waiting a slower one. The only solution is to grab one and get pampered in it.

Nvidia unveils Pascal, its next-gen GPU

Pascal
Pascal a super computer module was unveiled by Jen Hsun Huang, CEO of Nvidia, at the annual conference of the company. This new architecture optimizes data transfer between the CPU and the GPU and uses a new type of memory arranged in three dimensions. According to NVidia, the module presented, which is one third the size of a PCIe graphics card brings the power of a supercomputer in the area occupied by two credit cards.

NVidia, the manufacturer of graphics processors for computers and systems on a chip (SoC) that is found in tablets and Smartphones, held its annual conference this week (CWG 2014) in San Jose, California. This is an opportunity to unveil new graphics processor architecture for the next generation of chips, video games, mobile SoC devices and supercomputers. Pascal called in honor of the French scientist Blaise Pascal, this super computer is an important technical milestone with the introduction of several technologies that optimize the use of RAM and reduce bottlenecks for data transfer between the GPU and the central processor CPU.

The first of these is the new 3D memory, which consists of stacked DRAM cells arranged vertically and integrate all on the same semiconductor as the CPU. NVidia announces that the memory should be multiplied by 2.5 with a much larger bandwidth. This 3D architecture also allows you to place voltage regulators near the chip, which has the effect of optimizing the energy efficiency that would be four times higher than a GDDR5 memory solution. NVidia emphasizes that through this, the Pascal module will have one third of the size of a PCIe graphics card.

For its new processor architecture, NVIDIA opted for a RAM in 3D. The memory access is much faster while allowing a more compact design. Another key innovation is a new interconnected technology between the CPU and GPU named NVLink. It was co-developed with IBM with the goal to leverage the speed of data transfer between the two processors. According to NVidia , NVLink is 5-12 times faster than that can offer PCI Express bus third generation, because it leaves the GPU memory access the CPU at full bandwidth and vice versa.

The founder announced a bandwidth of 80 to 200 Gb / s, against 16 GB / s of PCIe 3.0. NVLink also renews the interconnection between the GPUs themselves, which will make creating clustering configurations that may include multiple GPUs. This new type of interconnects will greatly benefit applications that take advantage of hardware acceleration and massively for parallel computing. Through this system of unified memory, NVidia promises developers they will be released for optimizing problematic communication protocols.

IBM plans to integrate this technology into future versions of Power processors. Note that NVidia does not intend to abandon the PCIe bus. All transactions and configuration control initiated by the CPU go through a PCIe connection only. If a CPU is not NVLink supported, may interconnect between the GPU and function to improve the performance rise, or scaling. In other words, NVLink will somehow technical manufacturers of processors may or may not choose to adopt. The first chips from the architecture Pascal arrive in 2016.
